History & Background

History
The church was founded in 1913, by the Baptist and Congregational Unions, to serve the growing community in and around Hutton Mount. The ministry alternates between the Baptist Union and the United Reformed Church. One of the first Union Churches to be established in this country it was an ecumenical project well ahead of its time. The ecumenical spirit of the church community is as strong today as it was then and we welcome members of all denominations into our fellowship.

Church Mission Statement

The aim of our Church is :-
  • To worship God
  • To teach the Faith
  • To care for the Fellowship
  • To share the Gospel
  • To serve the Wider Community
We set ourselves FIVE TARGETS to be achieved during five years :-
  • To be active in MISSION locally, nationally, and internationally.
  • To use our PREMISES as part of that mission, making them accessible and available to benefit the community, the priority purpose being to share God's love and concern for all.
  • To be faithful in PRAYER, by providing opportunities for corporate prayer and actively encouraging private prayer.
  • To create accessible WORSHIP as a visible expression of the community of God.
  • To create active SOCIAL WITNESS to work for peace and justice amongst humankind.
